What is Farseer Physics Engine?
Farseer Physics Engine is a collision detection system with realistic physics responses. This means you can create a game or robotic simulation easily using the engine and the associated tools. Everything from simple hobby games to complex simulation systems is possible with Farseer Physics Engine.
Download the latest version, checkout our
documentation and
watch how other people are using the engine.
Features
We have built Farseer Physics Engine 3.0 on Box2D 2.1.2 (Acutally, the Box2D.XNA port of Box2D), so we have matching features. However, we also have A LOT of features beside the ones included in the default Box2D release. See a full list in our
documentation
- Continuous collision detection (with time of impact solver)
- Contact callbacks: begin, end, pre-solve, post-solve
- Convex polyons and circles.
- Multiple shapes per body
- Dynamic tree broadphase
- Fast broadphase AABB queries
- Collision groups and categories
- Sleep management
- Contact, friction, and restitution
- Stable stacking with a linear-time solver
- Revolute, prismatic, distance, pulley, gear, mouse joint, and other joint types
- Joint limits, motors, and friction
- Controllers (gravity, force generators)
- Tools to decompose concave polygons, find convex hulls, boolean operations and more.
