Is there a way to specify a vector2 position and a force amount and have the body's around it get affected (much like an explosion)

You could simply search for all bodies within a specified distance of the explosions and manually add the forces.

Thanks for the serialiazation tip in the other thread - I'll check it out.

As far as creating an explosion effect, here is one strategy to expand on bushmango's...

you could roll in your own broadphase solution which allows adding "ProximityAABBs". These would be special non-geom "objects" that can be added to the broadphase. They only have a position, AABB, and a geom-list. The geom-list is populated as objects collide with it.

These proximity list can then be used for several things:
- explosions
- renderable on screen objects
- A.I. routines that need to know nearest neighbors
- game triggers...
- etc.

Alternatively, you could have a "broadphase" call-back system instead of storing the geom-list.
