Scaling Geometry (using its matrix) doesn't effect its offset?

I am working with a body that has multiple geometry. I want to scale the whole thing, but using the geometry.Matrix to scale doesn't seem to be enough.

I have tried mulitplying the geomtery offset by the scale vector, but that for some reason causes it to explode (creating larger and larger gaps between geometry).

any ideas?
