Simulating Magnetic Effects

Hey guys, I would like to simulate magnetic effects in my game but I don't really understand how can I do that. Anyone can help out?

only way i can think of doing this is check the distance between to objects you want to be magnetic. Next cycle through all the verts in each object and apply forces to these points to attract them together based on a formular for createing magnetic inpusles.

If you use FP3, you can use the gravity controller.  I have made a magnetcontroller based on the gravity controller in my game, which will only attract objects that I flag with a metal tag.  With FP2, I remember RogueCommanderIX making a patch that did a messy gravity.  I didn't have luck with it so I wrote my own similar to what riddler is describing.
