Need help with physics properties (FPE3)

Well... not a game yet.. but first steps :) The thing starts in 9 sec of the movie. Ball can move in the air, but its move is exact diagonal (linear), I guess it should be parabolic?

 

Here You can see what i mean: http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/2235/test1m.png (black line is this what i get in my game now, red line is more less what i would like to have). What can be the thing to get this done?

It is all about the forces and the damping.

If you apply a constant force in the (1,0) direction and you by default have a constant force (gravity) in the (0,-1) direction, then you will get linear movement. You can play around with the linear damping properties, however, you might want to implement something yourself that gives the right "feel".

Did you mean lets say logarithmic decreasing of the moving force for e.g.? Playing with gravity seems crazy.. Aren't there any already-given solutions, really?

I did not suggest playing with the gravity - but playing with the linear damping of the ball might be what you are looking for - however, it is implemented to give a constant damping factor on the bodies. We don't have any other kind of damping in the engine.

I see.. I think I solved the problem with decreasing the moving force while body is in the air. Well, it is not parabolic move but it gave me more realistic behavior than this from playing with damping :( Anyway thank you very much for your time Genbox!!
