Static bodies by default?

Hi all,

Just wanted to ask: is there a special reason why bodies are static by default? I mean, by default you introduce physics to have dynamics. Also, static bodies are really more of an exceptional case of bodies with excessively large masses which could blow up the engine if simulated dynamically.

I wondered that myself, but found this in the Box2D manual:

Box2D manual:

Bodies have zero mass by default; therefore they are static by default.

Which makes sense, because bodies can only be dynamic once you have given them fixtures.
