Joint Stress

Nov 18, 2007 at 2:21 AM
Is it possible to measure the amount of stress on a joint? It would be quite useful in building and fighting games.

On a similar note, could we use the 'previousLinearVelocity' and 'previousAngularVelocity' variables to determine the velocities of the previous frame, or are these updated multiple times within the frame?

JointError is a measurement of joint stress. It is the amount the Joint is past it's limits. I use this to determine joint breakage.

I'm not sure on your other question... don't have time to look at the code right now.. I think you can use them, though.

Whoops. I was using JointError, but I mixed up Math.Max/Min in my code. JointError works fine. I still have to test the 'previous...' variables.

How does AngleSpring SpringError work exactly? Is it just the distance from the target angle in radians?

Yes, if I remember correctly that is all it is.
