I am a Silverlight Game developer and have been watching your project for some time. I am just now to the point that I have the time to start learning farseer and wanted to know if I should just wait for 3 as it looks like it is very close to completion or if I should start with 2.1.3 and migrate up to 3 when it come out.

I am in the same position.

I think that if you are starting a new project, you should go for 3.0

Right now is stable enough and performs a lot better. Plus, you'll not have the migration related problems.

Hmm, i have a bunch of questions:

1.) I am using Visual Studio 2010. Is this a problem?

2.) I am using Silverlight, there are no examples for Silverlight and FP3 yet. Looking at FP 2.1.3 there seem to be a FarseerPhysics and FarseerPhysicsSilverlight Project. If i try to add a reference  for Farseer Physics 3.0 VS complains that it is no Silverlight project.

btw, thx a lot for this great engine.

How do you compile FP 3.0, I have downloaded the code, but I just cant compile anything to get a dll. Branches,DebugView,

I am having this problem too.  I can compile the FP 3.0 code but when I reference the .dll in my Silverlight project is complains about it not being built against a Silverlight runtime.

just to specify some things.

ad 1.) I had some problems opening/importing the xna samples from FP 3.0. This seems to be connected to XNA 4.0 and 3.1. Since i dont use xna and only want to understand the examples i did not try to hard to get it to work with vs2010/xna4.0. opening and building the project with vs 2008 worked fine. on a related note, are there any .net 4.0 and 3.5 problems?

ad 2.) i think this happens since silverlight is not the whole .net clr but only a part of it.

here is an explanation and methods to deal with 2. i will look later but i think there are some references in FP3 that are not in the SL runtime, might be mistaken tough.

Well, since there does not seem to be an easy way to use FP3 with Silverlight i'll be starting with version 2 and change later.

Are there any news regarding Silverlight and FP3?

I'm using FP3 with silverlight. Works great. The only thing you have to do is put #if(!SILVERLIGHT) around the various bits that don't compile.
