Why does _every_ joint act like a spring?

Hi everyone.  This is normal, right?  I attach two bodies together with a weld joint (or any other joint) in an attempt to attach them solidly together...  But when the connected bodies experience an impact against something else (like a static wall), they sorta "spring" apart, and then gradually stabilize & return to their "normal" welded positions...   I know some of you know what I'm talking about!!

So how can I prevent this?  Isn't there some way that I can attach two bodies together in a rock-solid bond? 

Is this a matter of needing more engine iterations?  How do I determine the current number of iterations per update?

This is expected as you also can see in the Testbed Cantilever test. Take a look at Settings.VelocityIterations and Settings.PositionIterations. The higher the number, the more stiff your joints will be.
