Use of Farseer in top down gameplay

I'm working on a top down game in an urban setting, and wanted to use Farseer to do the physics and collision detection.  It seems like Farseer was designed for side scrolling games.  I am able to have the characters move, but they never slow down.  Is there a way to add a general drag?  Or is there a better way to slow the character down?

You can have drag applied to the characters at every step by setting their Body.LinearDamping field.  This makes a character move floatily in a sidescrolling game, but should be perfect for approximating top-down friction.
